Melvin Jones Award

At our January 17th meeting 50 year member Lion Clem Marchildon was presented the Melvin Jones award. Congratulations Lion Clem!

District Governor Visits

We were honored to have DG Shirley Starner visit at our January 17th meeting. She gave an interesting presentation about the beginnings, progress and future goals of LCIF. The DG inducted new members Lion Joan Sullivan and Lisa Dukes into our club. Welcome new Lions!

Lions Annual Blood Drive

Lion Bill Donahue thanks everyone for their help with the annual blood drive! This year we collected 84 pints! Next years goal is 100 pints. Blood, it’s the gift of life!

Zone 4C Social

The Lions annual Zone Social will be held March 13th at 6:30 P.M. at the New Bridgeville Fire Hall located off Route 74, south of Red Lion. We will enjoy a Turkey dinner with all the trimmings served family style (all you can eat) for $12.00! be sure to sign up by February 27th!

Sweetheart Bingo

New Freedom Lioness will hold Sweetheart Bingo Sunday, February 12, 2012 at New Freedom Community Center, 150 East Main Street. Doors open at 12:30, Bingo begins at 2:00, Advance tickets: $15, at the door: $18. For tickets call 235-2144. Bring a nonperishable food item for the food pantry. Lions Annual Yard Sale

Our annual Lions Yard Sale is advertised in the spring issue of Today and Tomorrow Magazine. You can pick up a copy at Brown’s Market in Loganville. This years’ yard sale will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Carnival grounds from 8:00 AM. To 3:00 PM. Chairman Lion Mike Jackson will need help!

A Million Trees

New Freedom Lions will be planting over 50 trees at New Freedom Cemetery. We are doing our part to meet the goal of one million trees! Sugar maples, Blue Spruce and American Holly will be planted to beautify and help purify the air.

New Freedom Recreation Council Schedule

Youth indoor Tennis Classes will begin in February in the gym.

February 05- Juggling Class, cost is $20.00 per person.

February 11: Baltimore Screen Painting Class will be held February 11 from 9:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. The $70.00 per person fee includes lunch and all supplies for a finished painting.

2012 Pennsylvania Lions State Convention Schedule

May 17- Gettysburg Ghost tour. Walk to the most haunted places in Gettysburg or

               take a haunted bus tour of the battlefield and other ghostly places.

May 18- Tour the Eisenhower farm in the morning enjoy afternoon seminars by

               Veteran US/Canada Forum speakers; in the evening enjoy deserts in

              the hospitality room!

May 19- Seminars in the morning, The All State Band concert and special guest

              La Donna Gatlin in the afternoon and later the International Banquet

              featuring International President Dr. Wing-Kun Tam.

May 20- Voting, the final session with time left to tour the battlefield.

New Freedom Heritage

The grand opening of the New Freedom Heritage Museum will be held Saturday, February 04, 2012. Guest speaker “Benjamin Franklin” begins at 1:00 P.M.

Volunteers are needed to serve as museum docents. If interested, please contact New Freedom Heritage. The museum will be open one Saturday a month from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Lion Will Kirkpatrick will serve as President of New Freedom Heritage for the 2012 through 2014 term. The group will celebrated its eighth anniversary at the annual meeting Saturday February 16 at 7:00 P.M. at the Heritage Museum. Guest speaker Bob Gotwols’ subject will be “Steam into History.” Everyone is welcome to attend!

At the Thursday, March 8th and April 12th meetings stream rehabilitation will be discussed.

Saturday, April 14 the ‘Stream Rehabilitation Project’ begins! You are invited to join the fun and get some exercise! Volunteers will meet at Freedom Green, Main and Front Streets at 9:00 A.M. Dress appropriately and prepare to get wet and dirty as we remove trash, vegetation, sediment and grade the stream.

New members are always welcome. Dues are $20.00 per year and may be sent to: New Freedom Heritage, P.O. Box 266, New Freedom, PA 17349.

District 14-C Gets Grant

District 14-C of Lions Clubs International has received a $10,000 grant to assist flood victims with the following articles: food, clothing, blankets, bottled water and medical supplies including glasses. ‘Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters’ organization announced the grant. The group meets at St Andrews’s Episcopal Church in York.
