New Freedom Lions Club NEWSLETTER We Serve CHARTERED 1933 Zone 4C ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ President Daniel Urbanas June 2010 Editor Jinny Smith _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Roars from the President, Dear Fellow Lions, This month we induct new officers into the club. Based on past performance I know the club will be in good hands with our new president Dan Fiedler. District Governor George Reisinger will be at the induction dinner to swear our new officers in. As club president I have had the opportunity to participate in every club event and see first hand how the club comes together to make things happen. I especially would like to thank Jinny Smith for chairing the Fall Yard Sale, Bill Donahue for running the Blood Drive, and Mike Gisriel for coordinating the Spring Yard Sale. Our Chaplin, Jim Sunderland is retiring and moving back to Lycoming County. Jim, we have enjoyed your company and fellowship over the past three years and we thank you for your inspiration and service to the club! Finally, I believe that over the past year we have lived up to our motto: “We serve.” Lion Dan ********************************************************************************************************************* Induction Dinner Our induction dinner will be held at June 1st at Friendly Farms. The next day, workers erected a sign near the farm: Slow-School Crossing. Three days later, John called again “That sign’s not helping. Folks ignore it.” So the sheriff sent out workers with a new sign: Slow-Children at Play. Three days later, Farmer John picked up the phone again. “Can I make my own sign?” The sheriff agreed. Three weeks later he called to check on John. “How’s the new sign working out for you?” he asked. “Great!” the farmer replied. “Not one chicken has been killed since I put it up!” Thinking such an effective sign might be useful elsewhere, the sheriff went to see it. The new sign read: Nudist Colony- Go slow and watch for chicks. ********************************************************************************************************************* New Freedom Lions Club Publicity I am pleased to tell folks about Lions projects and activities!
